China's stand on terrorism again
China's love for Pakistan has been seen again in the UN. China has blocked a proposal from India and the US to ban Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist group commander Abdul Rauf by declaring him a global terrorist. The other 14 members of the United Nations agree to this.
India and America wanted Abdul Rauf to be declared a global terrorist. Both countries supported the ban on global travel of the terrorist and the freezing of his assets. At the same time, a Chinese spokesman said, 'We need time to understand the matter. Hence this proposal has been put on hold.
In 2010, the US proposed to designate Azhar as a terrorist. Azhar is accused of involvement in terrorist activities and organizing suicide attacks in India. After this a proposal was sent to the United Nations to declare it a global terrorist, but China seems to be backing down at the moment.

Abdul takes all the decisions related to Jaish in the absence of Masood. Abdul is the brother of Masood. Abdul had hijacked the Indian aircraft in the year 1999. Because of this India had to release Masood Azhar. Since then it has been included in the list of top five most wanted terrorists of India. In India, 2001 attack on Jammu and Kashmir assembly, Pathankot terrorist attack, Pulwama terrorist attack has been done by Jaish.
What happens after being declared
a global terrorist, the UN Security Council decides to declare any person a global terrorist. The Security Council has five permanent members (USA, China, France, Russia and the UK), while 10 non-permanent members. Any person can be declared a global terrorist only after the consent of all the permanent members. After the name appears in this list, there are mainly three types of action.
- The government gets the right to confiscate the property of a person who is declared a global terrorist. Any country in which such person's property resides, it shall be confiscated. In this case, the person concerned is also barred from getting any kind of financial help.
- Traveling of such a person is also banned. No country allows entry to a person who has been declared a global terrorist. Even in the country where he lives, he is not allowed to travel of any kind.
- It is ensured that such a person does not get weapons in any way. The supply and sale of all weapons is stopped. This includes from small to large weapons.
The resolution is passed after the consent of all the members,
any of the member countries of the Security Council can bring its resolution. Permanent member countries also have the right of veto. Such a motion is passed only when the consent of all the members is obtained. If any member files an objection, the motion cannot be implemented.
